"Better Coffee at a Better Price" is indeed true! The new premium roast coffee served today is much more enjoyable / palatable than the past.
RM 3.10 (8oz)
RM 3.60 (12oz)
It is 100% Arabica coffee beans, grown at higher altitudes of Central and South America region.
I've tried the coffee at a few outlets but the quality was not consistent. Some were good and some were not.
The good ones: Moderately strong, clean, aromatic.
The bad ones: Burnt, no aroma present.
There is a reason why the coffee taste burnt. If you see the coffee pot sitting on the hot plate / brewer, then the possibility of getting a burnt coffee is higher. But it is difficult to judge by looking at the pot.
The next time before I order my coffee, I'll surely ask if the coffee is still within the holding time. Just ask the crews. Anyone who is passionate about their coffee, will surely be happy to tell you.
What is / was your experience with McD's premium roast coffee? Do you have anything to share? Love to hear from you...
If you crave for coffee when there is no decent one around, try Nescafe Gold (http://www.nestle.com/Brands/Pages/BrandsDetail.aspx?brandguid=86CA4289-43E9-4FC3-995F-92148B4DB2CF&BrandName=Nescaf%C3%A9%20Gold)
ReplyDeleteWhat to comment on MCD coffee? Quality is a big issue. Yes MCD coffee is cheap but they need to also take care of the quality. At some outlets, the coffee taste fresh with nutty aroma like it suppose to. But at some other outlets, the coffee is sooo bad. By looking at the color, you can notice the freshness already. Burnt and bitter and sour taste. My advice, if you go to MCD for coffee and u found the coffee is not fresh, ask them to brew a new one. Normally they listen to you and brew new. With its free refill policy, you cant go wrong having a cuppa at MCD. Much cheaper than mamak and you get real arabica roasted coffee! Way to go...
ReplyDeleteWan, I turn to Nescafe Gold once in a while when travelling, especially if I'm craving for coffee in the middle of the night in the hotel room.
ReplyDeleteTazzy, you are right. You can ask them to brew fresh batch for you if it taste really bad. Erm.. I tot mamak coffee is cheaper? and you cant compare arabica to robusta.
Thank you for sharing!
i've had quite a few of these McD coffee, it's surprisingly good for its price while it's freshly brewed and haven't left to stand for long, but once u try to refill from the thermos pot near where u take the chili sauce, that's where it went downhill
